About Me

About Me

Alison Chang is qualified in Taiwan, Mainland China, and New York State. She previously served as a Judge at Taiwan Taipei District Court and then returned to private practice at a prestigious law firm in Taipei. She has extensive experience in assisting parties in resolving various business disputes through litigation.

After graduating from Columbia Law School, Alison relocated to Beijing and joined King & Wood Mallesons, focusing on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, and other transaction works. She has represented numerous multinational corporations in investment and acquisition activities in Taiwan, mainland China, Asia, Europe and Americas, spanning the areas of manufacturing, automobile, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, high technology, media and entertainment. Alison has extensive experience in structuring, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, conducting due diligence, participating in negotiations, and managing risks. She is always instrumental in the projects.

Alison also specialized in the field of arbitration. She is the current Convenor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), East Asia Branch, Taiwan Chapter. She is also the founding chair of CIArb Taiwan Chapter's Young Members Group. She is a Fellow, an approved faculty and lecturer of CIArb. She has been listed on the panels of arbitrators of Chinese Arbitration Association, Taipei, CAA International Arbitration Centre (CAAI), Taiwan Arbitration Association, Chinese Real Estate Arbitration Association, Hangzhou International Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Langfang Arbitration Commission, Xiamen Arbitration Commission, South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong), Japan Commercial Arbitration Association as well as Korean Commercial Arbitration Board International (KCAB International). She has been listed on the panel of China Specialist Mediator of Singapore International Mediation Centre and the panel of International Mediator of Korean Commercial Arbitration Board International (KCAB Internaional). She is appointed by the International Chambers of Commerce as a North Asia Representative of Young Arbitration and ADR Forum (YAAF, previously known as Young Arbitrators Forum).

  • ​Represented Reckitt Benckiser in an auction sale of its infant formula and child nutrition business in mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

  • Represented ORG Technology in selling its can production business in Taiwan.

  • Represented Cypress Capital in several investments around the world.

  • Represented Beijing Infrastructure Investment in acquiring 70% shares of LogoMotive GmbH.

  • Represented Demiray in introducing Italian cabinet brand PEDINI into mainland China.

  • Represented MediaTek in selling 100% of its shares in Autochip to Navinfo.

  • Represented Ant Financial for its US$40 million-dollar-investment in 2Dfire Series C financing.

  • Assisted a mainland China company in enforcing an SCIA arbitral award against a Taiwan company in Taiwan.

  • Assisting a Taiwan citizen in Taiwan court proceedings initiated by an American company against a Cayman company and the Taiwan citizen regarding recognition of an ICDR award rendered in Los Angeles awarding more than twenty million dollars (USD) 

  • Assisted a Cayman company in Hong Kong court proceedings regarding recognition of an ICDR award rendered in Los Angeles (co-counsel with Hong Kong solicitors and a barrister).

  • Assisted a Cayman company in an ICDR administered arbitration against a U.S. company regarding breach of distribution agreement.

  • Acted for a major logistics company on its potential claims relating to a real estate development project against a renowned PRC real estate foundation. Advice includes procedural aspects of arbitrations administrated by the BAC/BIAC.

  • Acted for a Taiwan listed company’s Hong Kong subsidiary in an ICDR arbitration seated in New York launched by a US company regarding disputes arising from a Supply Agreement.

  • ​Acted as the presiding arbitrator in a Chinese Arbitration Association administered arbitration regarding dispute arising out of a distribution agreement.

  • Acted as a party-appointed arbitrator in a Chinese Arbitration Association administered arbitration regarding payment of service remuneration.

  • Acted as a party-appointed arbitrator in a Chinese Arbitration Association administered arbitration regarding redemption of investment.

  • Acting as a party-appointed arbitrator in a Chinese Arbitration Association administered arbitration regarding breach of lease agreement.
