On 12 October 2024, Chen & Chang, Attorneys-at-Law (“Chen & Chang”) had the pleasure of co-hosting a Conference on “ESG Contractual Clauses and International Disputes” with the ADR Committee of Taiwan Bar Association (“TWBA”), Taiwan Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch (“Taiwan Chapter”), the International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitration and ADR Forum (“ICC YAAF”) and ArbBoutique, attracting nearly 50 attendees participated either in person or online.

ArbBoutique's managing counsel, Emily Hay FCIArb, presented on international ESG legal frameworks focusing on the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD/CS3D) introduced in July 2024. She discussed the zero draft of European Model Clauses (EMCs), which are designed to align with the CSDDD’s requirements, and shared case studies on resolving ESG-related disputes through arbitration.
Our managing partner, Helena Chen C.Arb FCIArb, PhD, Chair of the ADR Committee of TWBA, moderated the Q&A session professionally and guided the audience in lively discussions with the speaker. Helena also encouraged the audience to enhance their global competitiveness in the rapidly evolving international market by non-stop learning and to jointly embrace the blue ocean strategy.
