On 23 October 2024, our partner, Alison S.Y. Chang, was invited to speak at the international online webinar on "COVID BUSINESS INTERRUPTION: A cross-jurisdictional review of the legal implications," jointly organized by the Insurance Council of Australia and the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association. She explored the issues related to business interruption insurance claims for losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic with legal and insurance experts from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong. The webinar focused on how insurance contracts are interpreted across different jurisdictions and how courts address the critical legal issues arising during the pandemic. The speakers engaged in in-depth discussions on the various requirements and triggering events for business interruption insurance across different jurisdictions.
